AutoBus
Autonomous Minibus
Description
To facilitate pedestrians with easy transportation in long walk areas like city centers and university campuses, we introduce an autonomous minibus. It is meant to carry 10 passengers from building to building conveniently. Later, it will navigate on-demand-based requests from the users between random locations within the premises. It is equipped with safety-certified equipment for safe stopping. A special feature of the bus is to have interaction strategies to convey its intentions clearly to other road users and hence build trust in the environment. It includes a display of animations to clarify the priority in a specific scenario with voice commands, and so on. This will enable pedestrians to confidently move around the driver-less vehicle.
The minibus was designed and manufactured with basic manual control by KompaiRobotics. Its overall dimensions are 4.4 x 1.8 x 2.2 m (L x W x H) with an estimated weight of 1500Kg (without passengers). It has a maximum speed of 50km/h but this is restricted based on the driving zones. It has a double steering system with the smallest possible turning radius of 4.2m, which enables it to maneuver in small pedestrian-like areas. It has a specially designed Lithium Ion battery with a nominal voltage and capacity of 76.8V and 200Ah respectively. The basic vehicle will be upgraded with state-of-the-art sensors for intelligent and safe navigation and planning. This includes stereo cameras for detection, 3D Lidar for mapping the surroundings. and GPS for global navigation.
