Vita
Tim Braun finished his studies of computer science at the Technical University Darmstadt in 2003. In 2001, he worked for 2 semesters at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver (Canada). His diploma thesis was written in the working group 'Graph-Interaktive Systeme' of the TU Darmstadt and deals with the automated detection of faces in digital video data. In December 2003, he was accepted as a Ph.D student in the Ph.D Program of the TU Kaiserslatuern. Up to December 2009, he worked in the research group 'Robotersysteme' of Prof. Dr. Karsten Berns. His main research interests are the autonomous navigation of off-road robots using topological maps and the development of efficient image processing algorithms for terrain analysis. For his Ph.D, Tim Braun worked on the 'RAVON' project, which focuses on methods for robot navigation in highly vegetated terrain. Furthermore, he was actively involved in several study projects in the area of agricultural automation.
