Scientific Exchange with Spanish National Research Council

Datenaufnahme durch vier Kameras im Weinberg

From 1st August to 1st November 2025, the RRLab welcomed Daniel Rodríguez from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), who is pursuing his PhD at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, currently working at the Centre for Automation and Robotics UPM-CSIC (CAR). During this period, Daniel focused on vineyard representation for simulation, and in manipulation control, integrating Gaussian splatting techniques into IsaacSim. His work is expected to contribute to ongoing research in robotic vineyard applications, and will be part of a paper soon to be submitted in collaboration with other researchers at the RRLab. Daniel quickly became an integral part of the group, actively participating in discussions and even joining the Klausurtagung, where his insights on simulation and robot control were warmly received. Under the guidance of Prof. Karsten Berns, he collaborated closely with Eike Gassen and Jakub Pawlak, fostering a welcoming and inspiring environment for research exchange.

This research stay not only advanced the lab's vineyard simulation and manipulation capabilities, but also highlighted the importance of collaborative integration in achieving practical and innovative robotic solutions.
